HRPLUS Adopts Platoon
Employees of HRPLUS Adopt an Army Platoon; Throw Thanksgiving Feast Farewell as Platoon Deploys to Iraq
Evergreen, CO – November 19, 2007 – HRPLUS planned a grand farewell and held a Thanksgiving Feast for its adopted Army Platoon at the company’s Evergreen offices. The day included a press conference, a parade through town led by a Jefferson County Sheriff motorcade and the Evergreen Fire Department, and a presentation ceremony followed by a luncheon.
Through the Platoon Adoptions Program, HRPLUS adopted the 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division Military Police Platoon. The group of 40 soldiers, led by First Lt. Nicole Miner will deploy to Iraq in approximately two weeks. Given the timing of their deployment, the soldiers will be gone before the holidays and will not have an address in time to receive letters and care packages from their families.
“These men and women will be away from their families and without contact. It was very important to us that we give them a holiday experience,” said Victoria Burge, Vice President of Marketing for HRPLUS.
“Our employees really pulled together making side dishes, decorating our offices and spending time with the platoon. We also wrote holiday cards and sent small gifts with 1LT Miner to surprise her soldiers.”
This is the third platoon HRPLUS employees have adopted, and HRPLUS was one of the first companies to adopt a platoon when the war started. Randy Leonard, a Vietnam veteran and the Platoon Adoptions liaison, said, “We just can’t stop doing this. It is too important. We have to let our troops know we support them.”
